PLANNING Minister Camille Robinson-Regis said she helped “exorcise” some “ghosts” from the On The Job Training Programme (OJT).

On Tuesday as the Standing Finance Committee examined the allocation for the Labour Ministry, Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh asked if there were any ghosts (people whose name was on the list and were receiving stipends but did not attend training) in the OJT. Labour Minister Stephen Mc Clashie said he was not aware of any issues surrounding any ghosts.

Robinson-Regis contended that all the ghosts were there from 2010-2015 (when the People’s Partnership administration was in office). “How do you get rid of ghosts? You smoke them out.”

Indarsingh said: “I didn’t know you were good at exorcisms.”

Robinson-Regis replied: “I was one of the exorcists.”

Mc Clashie also spoke about new labour legislation including to eliminate child labour, employment standards and for trade disputes, and $200,000 to set up a 24/7 sexual harassment hotline and to produce promotional materials for sensitisation.
