Arima man shot by male relative

Arima police are at the scene of a shooting where a 38-year-old man was shot dead earlier today.

Police said Allan Stoute got into an argument with a male relative at his Mt Pleasant, Arima, home on Thursday morning.

During the altercation, Stoute got a cutlass and approached the relative.

The relative, who has a licensed gun, took out his pistol and shot Stoute once.

An ambulance took Stoute to the Arima Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Arima police went to the house and arrested the man. Investigators said his pistol, ammunition and Firearm Users Licence book were also seized.

Homicide investigators are continuing enquiries.
