Police seize guns, weed in south Trinidad

POLICE seized four guns in San Fernando and Vistabella during an anti-crime exercise on Monday in San Fernando, Mon Repos and Marabella.

Police said two AK 47 assault rifles with 52 rounds of 7.62 calibre ammunition fitted in two magazines, a Glock 17 pistol with 11 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, a Glock 40 pistol with six rounds of .40 calibre ammunition and 1.4 kilos of marijuana were found in a bushy area at Boodoosingh Street in San Fernando. At Purcell Street in Vistabella,  they arrested a man with a Glock pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition. Three other men were also arrested.

The men are expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate on Wednesday.

The exercise was co-ordinated by Snr Supt Gaffar, Supts Doodhai and Ali Mohammed, ASP John and Insp Teeluck and supervised by Sgt Joseph.
