St Joseph man shot dead in car

THe body of a 35-year-old man from Maracas St Joseph was found hanging out of a car early on Monday morning.

Police said they were called to Gordon Street, St Augustine, at around 6.40 am after passers-by found Douglas Eley in the back seat of a pink Mazda BT 50.

Eley appeared to have several gunshot wounds

Members of the Northern Division Emergency Response Patrol and homicide investigators went to the scene with a district medical officer who declared Eley dead.

Police said residents said they heard gunshots at around 4 am but did not call the police.

Investigators from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.
