Man's body found in Sangre Grande

THE unidentified decomposing body of a man was found in Sangre Grande on Saturday morning.

Police said around 8.30 am a gardener from Rampersad Trace, Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande found the body after smelling something in the area. Police said the man was walking along Lochan Trace, off Toco Road, Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande, on his way to his garden when he followed the odour. The body was lying face down about 50 feet into the forest.

The man, who appeared to be of African descent, was medium built and about five foot tall. He was wearing a white vest, blue three-quarter jeans and black and white slippers.

There were what police described as bruises to his face.

Anyone with information that may lead to identifying the body is asked to call the police.
