SPEAKER Bridgid Annisette-George on Wednesday again warned St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen about her Facebook posts, after Leader of Government Business Camille Robinson-Regis said the new member had continued the post,s which could be viewed as questioning the Speaker’s impartiality in her rulings.

In a matter of privilege, Robinson-Regis said Ameen has “gone too far” and was bringing the House of Representatives into disrepute.

Robinson-Regis said that last Monday, Annisette-George had already warned Ameen for allegedly disrespectful posts which had cast aspersions on the chair and on members.

Annisette-George ruled that while a fine line may exist between robust debate and a contempt, MPs must learn the standing orders and read May’s Guide to Parliamentary Practice.

“There are many senior members on your side. There are many other senior resources available to you and all members. I hope they’ll take the opportunity to avail themselves of good, sound advice.

“A former speaker used to say three strikes and you’re out. I would just like to advise the Member for St Augustine...this is strike two!”
