40 new covid19 cases, no deaths

There have been 40 new covid19 cases reported within the last 24 hours, bringing the number of active cases to 1,599.

The figure in the Ministry of Health's update on Wednesday afternoon was 1,609.

There have been no new deaths reported, with the number remaining at 93.

The health ministry’s release on Thursday evening said the new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the county medical officers of health.

Ten people have been discharged from public health facilities and there are 40 recovered community cases.

The total number of cases since March is 5,194 and there are now 3,502 recovered patients.

There are 95 people in hospital, with 59 at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, with five in the intensive-care unit and five in the high-dependency unit. There are 17 patients at the Caura Hospital; two at the Arima General Hospital, with two in the ICU; and 17 at Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort.

There are 39 patients in step-down facilities, 26 at the Claxton Bay Correctional Facility, ten at UWI Debe and three in Tobago. There are 231 people in state quarantine facilities, and 1,465 people in home self-isolation.

The total number of people tested to date in the public sector stands at 31,182.
