The manager of soca singer Dexter “Blaxx” Stewart has asked the public to pray for him.

Giselle Gellineau-Penrose told Newsday in WhatsApp messages on Wednesday that he needs "lots and lots of prayers."

Blaxx was hospitalised again on Tuesday after recent surgery for an undisclosed illness. A statement from his management on Wednesday said he has lung and kidney issues.

An earlier media release thanked the public for its continued support and saidthere was only one authorised GoFundMe account for the singer. When Newsday checked the page on Tuesday afternoon it showed US$2,499 had been raised so far of a US$30,000 goal.

“Your donations in any size (are) most appreciated and we will ensure that he gets all the love and support you give. We thank you for the years of love and look forward to him being back on his feet,” said his manager's statement..

The release said the account was necessary as many people overseas had expressed their desire to help.
