The Met Office said on Tuesday it has been monitoring a tropical wave in the Atlantic.

But the release said the wave has a low (20 per cent) chance of developing over the next 48 hours.

On its projected track, activity associated with the tropical wave is forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday, the Met Office said.

But regardless of its development, the system is likely to affect TT from early Thursday morning with gusty winds and heavy rainfall. It is predicted to affect parts of the Northern Windward and Leeward islands from Wednesday evening.

The system is approximately 800km east of the Windward Islands and centred near 13 degrees north 54 degrees west, moving westward at 25km per hour.

The Met Office said it will issue another update at 10am on Wednesday or earlier.
