Woman shot in Arima home invasion

Andreina Briceño Brown, director of the Arima Hispanic Cultural Centre (HCC), was reportedly shot on Monday night at her home.
Three armed men arrived at the house in Tumpuna Gardens, Arima, apparently to commit a robbery.

Relatives told Newsday that the men cornered Briceño Brown and her family in the ground floor of the house.
Minutes later a shot was heard. The attackers fled immediately in a vehicle that was waiting for them in front of the house.

Briceño Brown was shot in the shoulder and the head. Her husband took her to the Arima Health Centre.
The men took a cell phone and other small belongings.

Police were called and were at the house after 9 pm on Monday. Family and friends checked security cameras for footage of the incident.
Briceño Brown, a Venezuelan, has lived in Trinidad for several years.
