New TRHA board appointed

A new Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) board was installed on Monday.

The members received their instruments of appointment at a ceremony attended by Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Tracy Davidson-Celestine.

They are Ingrid Melville (chairman), Beverly Nola-Adams (deputy chairman), Dr Carlton Guy, Dr Sandeep Kumar, Marilyn Procope- Beckles, Akissi London, Carlos Hazel, Ronald Celestine and Trudy Caraballo.

Two weeks ago, Davidson-Celestine said a new board would be appointed soon.

In the meantime, she said, the absence of a board was not affecting the hiring of staff or the daily managing of the island’s health sector. She said the issues confronting the sector did not immediately warrant the input of a new board.

The two-year term of the last board began in July 2018 and ended three months ago.
