Soldiers held for illegal arms cache

Two soldiers were arrested on Saturday after they were held with illegal guns and ammunition.

The men, 37 and 39, were held with two Glock 17 pistols with automatic selectors, one homemade shotgun, three rifle magazines, 34 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 20 rounds of .9 millimetre ammunition, and three ski masks after police searched a house at Councilman Circular, Upper Seventh Avenue, Malick.

The police operation was led by officers of the North-Eastern Division Task Force.

In a separate incident, police arrested a Vistabella couple for posession of an illegal gun.

The arrest was made on Saturday evening at the couple’s Ninth Street home.
