One death, 41 new covid19 cases on Wednesday

THE Ministry of Health recorded one death and 41 new covid19 cases on Wednesday. The death of an elderly man with pre-existing conditions brought the total number of covid19-related deaths in TT to 84.

In the ministry's 10 am update on Wednesday, it said 30 people had tested positive for the virus and in its 6 pm update, 11 more cases were recorded.

These new cases brought the number of cases to 4,887 with 1,793 active cases.

In all, 1,114 people have been discharged from public health facilities and there have been 1,869 recovered community cases.

The ministry said there are 52  recovered community cases,  that is, patients who were in self-isolation and met the ministry’s discharge criteria.

There are currently 106 patients in hospital care. Couva hospital now houses 65 patients – five in intensive care and eight in high dependency units. Caura hospital has 26 patients. There are three patients at Arima receiving intensive care.

St Anns has three patients, Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort has eight, and Scarborough General Hospital, Signal Hill has one. There are 13 patients in step-down facilities, ten  at UWI Debe, and three in Tobago.

The number of samples  submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency, UWI, and other local covid19 testing sites for testing is 33,013.
