THE search for teenager Josiah Henry, 19, has ended.

Henry’s body surfaced near the jetty of Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) Claxton Bay on Monday morning.

A police report said the teen's body was found at about 8.30 am by a resident in the Claxton Bay area.

Police said a district medical officer was called in and pronounced him dead. The body was sent to the Forensic Science Centre, where an autopsy is expected to be done.

Reports said Henry went fishing with two other men in a pirogue at Claxton Bay near TCL.

The boat engine died about 200 feet offshore. Henry reportedly jumped into the water to get a rope to bring the boat back to shore, but disappeared.

The water in that area is said to be very deep and can accommodate large vessels.

The men told St Margaret’s police they jumped into the sea to search for Henry but could not find him.
