Police kill man at home in San Fernando

POLICE shot and killed a man inside his home while executing a search warrant for guns on Monday. Dead is Damien Scoon of Jamadhar Street.

According to a report at about 4.21 am police from the Southern Division Task Force and Special Intelligence Unit went to an apartment at Jamadhar Street in San Fernando to execute a search warrant. Reports said that when police identified themselves and entered the apartment, Scoon was at the door holding a gun.

Reports said when police ordered him to put down the gun, he refused. The policemen became fearful and shot Scoon. He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This is the second person shot dead by police in the past three days. Last Friday, Cuban national Manuel Olivere, 53, was shot dead by police during an altercation in Princes Town.
