Minister of Finance Colm Imbert said this year's budget will provide $50 million for laptops and tablets for students across TT.

Imbert was speaking during the budget presentation for the fiscal year 2021 in the House of Representatives.

He said this is in addition to facilitating the digital needs of students by removing taxes on computers, laptops and tablets and the support and donations of the private sector and members of the public.

“The acquisition and distribution of these computers will be a joint effort between the Ministry of Education to identify the students, the Ministry of Public Administration and Digital Transformation to make sure we get value for money and proper specifications of equipment, and the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services to ensure that those who really need these computers get them.”
