Covid19 deaths now 78

The deaths of two elderly people, a man and one woman, both with pre-existing conditions, has brought the number of covid19 deaths to 78.

According to the Health Ministry’s covid19 update on Saturday morning, there are 80 new cases of covid19 in TT, bringing the total number of positive cases to 4,709.

While the number of deaths increased, there were 66 recovered community cases and seven people being discharged from public health facilities. That brought the number of people discharged to 1,086, and the number of recovered community cases to 1,716.

Therefore, the number of active cases increased by five to 1,829.

Hospitalised are 103 patients. Sixty-five are at Couva hospital with five in the intensive care unit and nine in the high dependency unit. Twenty-eight are at Caura, four are in ICU at Arima, three at St Ann’s, two at Scarborough and one at Signal Hill.

At step-down facilities were 13 people with seven at UWI Debe and six in Tobago.

The number of samples submitted to public and private labs was 32,122, the number of unique patient tests was 29,017, and the number of repeated tests was 3,105.
