A Venezuelan man who attacked a policeman with a steel chain was shot dead in Princes Town on Friday morning.
Police are still trying to find out who he was.
A police report said at about 10 am the man was involved in a fight on Market Street in Princes Town with a group of other men.
Reports said that Princes Town municipal police on mobile patrol saw the men fighting. They approached and identified themselves.
Reports said the Venezuelan, who had a steel chain in his hands, continuing walking towards the police.
PC Charles said he became fearful for his life, pulled out his gun and shot the man.
He was taken to the Princes Town Health Facility, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the other men involved in the fight were also taken to hospital and treated.
Princes Town Police are investigating.
