59 more people test positive for covid19, no new deaths

The Ministry of Health has announced 59 new covid19-positive cases on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases to 1,824.

There were no new deaths reported, and the toll remains at 76.

The ministry said 12 people had been discharged from public health facilities, and there were 88 recovered community cases bringing the total numbers in these categories to 1,079 and 1,650 respectively.

There are 103 patients in hospital, including 29 at the Caura Hospital and 65 at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility. Of those, six are in the intensive care unit and ten are in the high dependency unit. There are three positive patients at the St Ann’s Hospital, two at the Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort, and one at the Scarborough General Hospital, Signal Hill.

There are 12 patients in step-down facilities, with seven at the UWI Debe Campus and five in Tobago.

The number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency, the UWI and other local sites for testing is 31,927. The number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in TT is 4,629.
