Mentally ill woman shot in Malick

Police are investigating the shooting of a mentally ill woman on Wednesday night.

Police said the 48-year-old woman was in the living room of her home at upper Ninth Avenue, Morvant, at around 7.50 pm when a masked gunman entered the house and shot at her twice.

Neighbours heard the gunshots, called the police and took her to the hospital.

Investigators said the woman was last listed in stable but critical condition.

Police said she had a tendency to wander into the yards and homes of nearby residents and had been warned not to do so again by some of them. They suspect the shooting might be related to one such incident.

Investigators from the Morvant CID are continuing enquiries.
