Veteran comedian and broadcaster Errol Fabien has clarified his call for help on social media, saying he is not facing homelessness, but is instead calling for help to save the Gayelle television's St Joseph studio.

On Thursday,on his Facebook account, Fabien streamed a live video in which he called for help to stop the bank foreclosing on the studio.

Speaking with Newsday, Fabien said while he lived at the St Joseph studio, he has other places he can live, and his calls for help were not for himself.

"I'm just trying to raise some money to save the building that houses Gayelle now.

"I have plenty places to stay.

"We have to get $350,000 to save the building. I live in the same building.

"A number of people have said they will donate money so right now I'm in the process of starting up a Go Fund Me account so we can get some more donations."

In another video on his Facebook account, Fabien explained the building housed Gayelle's archives.

He said he had been unable to keep up with the payments as he was not working.

"If I could raise this money in 24 hours, the station would be able to survive. I got an offer from somewhere in south.

"But I would like to save this building.

"I just don't have work and I'm not earning. That's my situation."

As of midday on Thursday Fabien had raised $10,080 through a Go Fund Me account.
