Police make million-dollar drug bust in Sangre Grande

Police seized 55kg of marijuana valued at over $1 million in Sangre Grande on Tuesday.

A release said detectives from the Eastern Division Special Operations Unit led surveillance operations over the past few weeks which led to the drug find.

Police searched a suspect’s home on Mc Shine Street, Sangre Grande at around 12.40 pm and found several white crocus bags containing 72 bricks of compressed cannabis wrapped in plastic.

The narcotics weighed 55kg and are valued at $1,017,500.00.

Police did not find the suspects but are confident
an arrest is imminent.

The operation was led by Snr Supt Aguilal and included Cpl Ramnarine and PCs Cielto, Singh and Samuel.
