Batting of WI women exposes poor coaching

THE EDITOR: Over the last two years the batting of our women cricketers has revealed the poor ability of our coaches and so-called analysts.

Our women show a starling lack of ability to hit the ball with a straight bat so there are no on-drives, off-drives or straight drives. Instead they block the full balls on their wicket and as overs tick away they then resort to cross-bat strokes which inevitably lead to their demise.

Sadly, from two years ago and to the present our analysts, whenever I hear them, only voice their disappointment with the team with no observation of these flaws so the errors continue unabated and uncorrected.

In addition, our bowling lacks subtlety so necessary in limited overs cricket.
