Active covid19 cases under 2,000 for 1st time since Sept 18

The Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday morning 55 more people have tested positive for covid19, bringing the total number of active cases in TT to 1,913.

This is the first time the number of active cases has been under 2,000 since the morning of September 18, when there were 1,866 cases.

The total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic reached TT is 4,441.

The ministry’s update also said two more patients have lost their lives to the virus. They were elderly men with pre-existing conditions.

In all 74 people have now died of the virus in TT.

The number of tests submitted to CARPHA is 30,779. The number of unique patient tests is 27,716 with 3,063 repeated tests.

Patients discharged now number 1,036 as 105 people have been discharged from public health facilities. The ministry said there are now 74 recovered community cases, referring to patients who were in self-isolation and met the ministry’s discharge criteria. There have been 1,1418 recovered community cases.

There are 121 patients in hospital care. Couva hospital houses 57 patients, four in intensive care and five in high dependency units. Caura hospital has 45 patients and Arima has five, with four in intensive care. Augustus Long Hospital has one patient, St Ann's has ten, Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort has two and Scarborough General Hospital, Signal Hill has one.

There are 12 patients in step-down facilities. Four patients are at UWI Debe, and eight in Tobago.
