Wallerfield man held with gun, marijuana

A 29-year-old Jacob Hill, Wallerfield man was held by police on Monday for the possession a gun, ammunition and marijuana.

Police said members of the Northern Division Major Operations Unit went to a squatting area along the Valencia Stretch at around 11.30 am when they saw the man standing near the road.

On seeing the police, the man ran into a nearby shed.

Police followed him and saw him throw a pistol on the ground.

They arrested him and seized a Glock 19 pistol with five rounds of ammunition and found two packets of marijuana.

Investigators said the man was wanted for a series of shootings and is expected to be interviewed by police.

Northern Division police are continuing enquiries.
