Woman killed in early-morning accident

A Valsayn woman is dead after the car she was travelling in crashed into an embankment at Tyrico beach, Maracas early on Sunday morning.

Newsday understands Sandra Samuel, 60, of East Grove, Valsayn, Curepe, was in the front passenger seat of a Nissan AD Wagon, at around 6 am when the driver swerved to avoid hitting another car that was travelling in the opposite direction.

Instead, the car slammed into an embankment. Samuel died on impact while the driver was injured.

A district medical officer was called to the scene and the woman was declared dead. The driver was taken to hospital.
