Sando man arrested for gun, ammo

A 28-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning in San Fernando for the possession of a firearm and a quantity of ammunition.

Around 1.15 am, police were on patrol at Hankey Street when they noticed a man acting suspiciously.

Police said the man who ran off into a nearby field and was seen removing an object from his waist, which he then hid in a plant.

He was later held along a track at Mt Moriah Road, San Fernando and a 45 calibre pistol and a magazine with nine rounds of 45 calibre ammunition were seized.

The arrest was made by PCs Boochun, Raghoonanan and George. Investigations are continuing.
