Man, Tobago woman die from covid19, 25 new cases

The covid19 virus has now claimed a total of 69 lives in TT after a man and a Tobago woman died overnight.

In its 10 am release, the Health Ministry said one was an elderly man with co-morbidities and the other was a man with pre-existing conditions.

In addition, 25 more people have tested positive for the virus, bringing the number of active cases to 2,069.

The total number of positive cases stands at 4,260.

Seven patients were discharged and 68 community cases have recovered.

There are now 96 covid19 patients at hospital - 58 at the Couva Hospital (six in the Intensive-care unit and seven in the high-dependency unit), 22 at the Caura Hospital, five at the Arima Hospital, one at the Augustus Long Hospital and ten at the St Ann's Hospital.

A total of 103 are at step-down facilities - 52 at the UWI's Canada Hall, and 45 at Freedom Hall.

The total number of samples sent for testing is now 30,262. From that total, 27,199 were unique patient tests and 2,063 were repeated tests.

The total number of discharges is now 905, and recovered community cases – 1,217.
