THE EDITOR: I have been wrestling with implications of this pandemic over the last few months.
Then I remembered something my dad said: Every obstacle has inherent within it an opportunity. Just have to look for it.
The devastation is clear in terms of the suffering, deaths, and the more pervasive economic tsunami now destroying the livelihoods of people throughout the world.
However, this disruptive pandemic is also rolling back the covers of infrastructural racism, huge economic inequality, political oppression (Hong Kong, Belarus etc) – basically man’s inhumanity to his brother.
This is our gift: the reset button and choosing to make the necessary changes to transform all people’s lives.
