99 more covid19-positive cases reported

The Ministry of Health reported 99 covid19-positive cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of active cases to 2,121, while the number of deaths remained at 67.

There are currently 94 patients in hospital care. Couva Hospital has 55 – with five in intensive care and seven in the high dependency unit. Caura Hospital has 23, and Arima has four. The Augustus Long Hospital has two patients while St Ann’s Hospital has ten patients.

There are 102 patients in step-down facilities. Five patients are at UWI Debe, 52 at UWI Canada Hall and 45 at UWI Freedom Hall.

The total number of patients discharged from public health facilities is now 898. The ministry said 62 are recovered community cases, referring to patients who were in self-isolation and met the ministry’s discharge criteria and were allowed to leave. The total number of recovered community cases now stands at 1,149.

The number of samples submitted to CARPHA, UWI and other local sites was 30,055. A total of 4,235 samples have tested positive.
