PTSC condemns ‘bullying tactics’ by union

The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) has fired back at the Transport and Industrial Workers' Union (TIWU) on Tuesday, accusing the union of engaging in bullying tactics by preventing drivers from performing their duties. PTSC said it wants to assure the public and workers that it is complying with all covid19 measures.

Last Friday, the union expressed concern over the lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) and wash basins at the terminals, and hand sanitiser pumps at the terminals and on buses.

On Monday, TIWU president Judy Charles threatened legal action against the PTSC for not valuing workers’ health and safety.

PTSC, in a media release on Tuesday, said health measures available at bus terminals were approved by the Occupational, Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) and the Ministry of Health.

"The mischievous actions of the union in these times are irresponsible and malicious. Nonetheless, the corporation perseveres in its mission to provide and maintain the necessary covid19 preventative measures.

The PTSC also praised its workers for their sense of duty during the pandemic.
