Mt Grace pensioner's home burns down

Fire officers are trying to find the cause of a fire that destroyed the home of 83-year-old Edward Miller.

Tobago divisional fire officer David Thomas said around 5am on Thursday they went to deal with the blaze at Crown Trace in Mt Grace. But by the time they arrived, the two-storey building was totally gutted.

The house was occupied by three adults, which included Miller, the owner, as well as an 11-year-old child.

Miller told fire officials he had gone to his garden at around 4am, and when he looked towards his house some time later he realised his bedroom was on fire.

Losses have been estimated at just over $1 million.
