Truck catches fire on highway in Caroni, driver escapes

A driver escaped serious injury when his truck caught fire on the Uriah Butler Highway on Thursday morning.

At 11 am the driver was heading south near the Caroni Flyover in central Trinidad when the truck caught fire.

Reports said he managed to pull to the side of the highway and jump out of the burning truck.

He was transporting hundreds of concrete blocks for a company.

Firemen were called in to extinguish the blaze.

Chaguanas police are investigating.
