Ideas to end waste

THE EDITOR: I write in response to the recent call by the Minister of Finance to citizens to make suggestions for ending waste and/or increasing income for the 2020-2021 national budget.

First, end the billions of dollars in foreign exchange currently wasted on the importation of marijuana and encourage local growth instead.

Secondly, end the billions of wasted dollars and water flowing from burst water mains everywhere. Replace the mains and save money while providing meaningful, productive work to local contractors.

Thirdly, end the perennial flooding – as has been done in the past – by a meaningful, productive, drain-clearing and enhancement programme.
