Another man dies, 70 more covid19 cases

The Ministry of Health has reported the death of a male patient with pre-existing conditions on Wednesday, bringing the total number of deaths to 57. Seventy more people have also tested positive for covid19, bringing the number of active cases to 2,426.

The total number of cases is now 3,293.

The 10am update stated the new cases represent results from samples taken between September 4 and 15, and do not represent cases over the last 24 hours.

There are now 810 patients who have been discharged, as 12 more have been sent home from hospital and step-down facilities.

The update said 96 patients remain in hospital. Couva hospital now houses 62 patients, six in intensive care and four in the high dependency unit. Caura hospital has 24 patients and Arima has eight patients, five of whom are in intensive care and three in the HDU. Augustus Long Hospital has two patients in HDU.

There are six patients at UWI, Debe, 50 a UWI, Canada Hall and 71 at UWI Freedom Hall.

The number of tests submitted to Carpha for testing is 27,883, and the number of unique patient tests is 24,820, with 3,063 repeated tests.
