Precious paintings to go on show

PRECIOUS Paintings will open on September 19 at The Art Society of TT in Federation Park.

On show will be two lithograph representations of Salvador Dali's crucifixion-themed paintings – Christo De Gala and Corpus Hypercubus.

Other artists whose work will be on display include Michel Jean Cazabon, Agostino Brunias, Alain Mallet, Carlisle Chang, Sybil Atteck, Boscoe Holder, Edwin Ou Hingwan, Luise Kimme, Knolly Greenidge, Cecily Forde, Lisa O’Connor, James Eccles, Peter Doig, Chris Ofili.

There will be a lot for art enthusiasts to feast their eyes on, said a media release. Among them are two outstanding portraits by Atteck and Holder. Atteck's The Labourer was produced in 1947 during her studies at Washington University and exhibited in Port of Spain and London, where it remained in a private collection for 61 years. Holder’s portrait of Arthur Mitchell, an American ballet dancer who founded the Dance Theatre of Harlem.

Private viewings are available by appointment from September 16, 17 and 18, from 12-6 pm.

The exhibition opens from 10 am-2 pm. It runs from Tuesday-Friday until October 2, from 12 pm-6 pm.
