Another covid19 death, 49 new cases

The Ministry of Health has reported another covid19-related death on Monday, bringing the total to 54.

The patient was an elderly male with pre-existing medical conditions.

In its 10 am update, the ministry said there are also 49 new cases, bringing total number of active cases 2,250.

It said the 49 additional cases were detected between September 3 and September 12.

The update stated the total number of positive cases is now 3,091. The number of samples submitted for testing is 27,006 with 188 more samples submitted since Sunday.

The number of unique patients tested is 23,963 with 3,043 repeated tests.

The ministry said 27 patients are being treated at Caura Hospital and the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility is treating 70 patients, three of whom are in intensive care and five in High Dependency Unit. There are now five patients in intensive care at Arima hospital, seven patients in UWI, Debe, 50 in UWI, Canada Hall and 71 in UWI Freedom Hall.

Fifteen people have been discharged, bringing the total number of discharged patients to 787.
