Two more deaths, 79 more test positive for covid19

TT has recorded two more covid19-related deaths and almost 80 more people have tested positive for the virus

The Ministry of Health, in its Friday morning covid19 update, reported two more people have died, an elderly woman with co-morbidities and an adult man, bringing the total number of covid19 deaths to 45.

Seven more people were discharged, taking the figure to 762. Active cases now stand at 1,970.

The overall number of samples that have tested positive stands at 2,777.

The ministry said 79 more people tested positive, with seven of those being being at the Police Training Academy and who have not been in circulation in the national community.

The ministry stressed the 79 cases show results from samples taken from August 31 to September 10 and therefore was not representative of positive cases over the last 24 hours only. The group will be processed for admission at the discretion of the Country Medical Officers of Health, the ministry added.

There are 109 covid19 patients in hospital and 1,663 have been home-isolated under monitoring by the county medical officer of health offices.

At the Couva Hospital there are 79 patients, six of whom are in ICU and five in High Dependency Units, and at Caura Hospital there are 30.

There are 119 covid19 patients at step-down/transition facilities, with 70 at Freedom Hall at UWI, 44 at Canada Hall at UWI, and five at the UWI Debe Campus.

The number of samples submitted to Carpha, UWI and other local sites was 26,176, unchanged from the Thursday afternoon update. The number of unique patient tests completed is 23,133 and there have been 3,043 repeated tests.
