TT reaches 50 covid19 deaths, record 7 in one day

TT reached a grim milestone of 50 covid19-related deaths as Friday saw a record seven deaths in one day.

This was reported in the Ministry of Health's covid19 updates for that day. The morning update reported two more people had died – an elderly woman with co-morbidities and an adult man – and the afternoon update reported a further five deaths: two elderly males with co-morbidities, two elderly females also with co-morbidities and an adult male.

The ministry said 127 more people tested positive, with seven of those being being at the Police Training Academy and who have not been in circulation in the national community. The ministry stressed the results given were from samples taken from August 31 to September 10.

There are 109 covid19 patients in hospital and 1,663 have been home-isolated under monitoring by the county medical officer of health offices.

Seven more people were discharged, taking the figure to 762. Active cases now stand at 2,013. The overall number of samples that have tested positive stands at 2,825.

On September 1 the ministry reported five covid19-related deaths.
