Several people have tested positive at the Office of the President (OTP) after further tests were done when a staff member tested covid19-positive last weekend.

A release from the President's Office said over 40 personnel have been tested, and testing of staff continues.

It did not say exactly how many tests came back positive.

President Weekes, who tested negative, and some of her staff remain in self-quarantine.

The release said the OTP has reviewed the conduct of recent events held at President’s House and is satisfied that all pandemic protocols, including face masks, sanitising and social distancing were strictly observed and the risk to people who do not work at the office is negligible.

The release said President Weekes and all staff members, including those who have tested positive, remain in good spirits. The office continues to function with a skeleton staff.

All public engagements have been postponed until the all-clear is received from the Ministry of Health.
