Met Service warns of bad weather

THE Met Service has issued an adverse weather alert for central and north Trinidad, advising that intense showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast for Friday afternoon.

It went into effect from midday and expires at 5.30 pm.

The yellow alert said there is a high potential for heavy to intense showers or thunderstorms to develop in some areas across Trinidad, particularly northern areas, by midday into the afternoon, which can result in rapid street and flash flooding.

It added that gusty winds in excess of 50 km per hour are likely during the expected downpours.

Earlier the Met Office reported another "scorching hot morning across TT," with temperatures expected to rise up to 34 degrees as the day progresses.

The forecast maximum temperature for Crown Point Tobago is 32 degrees.
