Ganja activist held during police raid

A 47-year-old woman, known as a marijuana activist, was held with over 400 grammes of marijuana at her home on Wednesday.

Police told Newsday the arrest came during an operation by Northern Division police.

Officers said they recieved a tip-off that led them to the home of the activist at Second St East, Trincity.

Police reportedly found marijuana plants, nurseries, and a quantity of dried and cured marijuana with a total quantity of 435 grammes.

She was arrested and charged for the offence and is expected to appear before an Arima magistrate today.

The law was amended in December last year, making it legal for people to be in possession of 30 grammes of marijuana and four adult plants.
