After chopping a neighbour several times, a Curepe man surrendered to the police hours later.

Police said the suspect had an argument with another tenant at an apartment building on Evan Street on Monday, and chopped him with a cutlass on the head and left arm.

He escaped and the victim was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex.

The other man went to the St Joseph Police Station at 7.30 pm, handed over the weapon used in the attack and gave an account of the incident. He was arrested for wounding with intent.

The Northern Division Crime Scene Investigations Unit is continuing investigations.
