Sixty-one people were given tickets between 6 pm on Sunday and 6 am on Monday for failing to wear face masks.

The fixed-penalty tickets for breaching the covid19 regulations were issued in three policing divisions.

The penalty for failing to wear a mask is $1,000 for the first offence.

The majority of infractions – 56 – occurred in the eastern division. Mayaro police issued 52 tickets.

The penalty was implemented in the Public Health Ordinance regulations to combat the spread of covid19.
