Police charged nine people, who were playing cards in Sangre Grande on Friday, for breaching the health ordinance that says it is an offence for groups of more than five to be in a public space.

The nine – Akim Bissoon, Triston Estrada, Nathan Jones, Andrew Williams, Junior Charles, David de Vignes, Kevin Bernard, Daniel Baptiste and Isiah Smith – were arrested by police during a card game on Sycamore Street, Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande. The men are all from North Eastern Settlement.

They were granted station bail of $500 and are due to appear at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on October 2. The exercise was supervised by Sgt Sankar, Sgt Ramkissoon and Sgt Garcia.
