Missing Palo Seco fisherman murdered

THE body of missing fisherman Shaun Ramroop was found in the forest in Palo Seco on Thursday evening.

Police said he had been shot several times in the chest and abdomen.

Ramroop was found with a mask over his face and his hands tied behind his back.

A police report said Ramroop was last seen alive on Wednesday morning when he left home at Nation Trace Beach Road, Palo Seco to go fishing.

When he did not come home, his common-law wife Raffina Ali reported him missing to the Erin Police Station.

After his body was found, his brother Sherwin Ramroop told Newsday, “He just went out to fish as he always does in the morning. And he did not return.

"My brother doesn’t do drugs. He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke. He is not a criminal, as some people are saying because of the mask he had on.”

Sherwin said his brother always took a mask in his bag whenever he went fishing to protect himself from mosquitoes.

“My brother was executed, and whoever did this is free and continuing with their lives, while our family is hurting. We are just praying and hoping for justice. They killed an innocent man.”

An autopsy on Ramroop’s body is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre.

Police have questioned several people in the area but no one has been arrested.
