Recently appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Randall Mitchell says no decision on Carnival 2021 has been taken as yet.

Mitchell met with the National Carnival Commission (NCC) board on Wednesday and the commission is in turn expected to meet with stakeholders over the next two weeks.

Decisions will be made in that time and then communicated to the public, Mitchell said in a phone interview with Newsday.

“We are going to talk to all of the stakeholders, discuss it and then arrive at a position,” he said.

He added that all options were being looked at, such as a delayed or virtual Carnival.

“Of course, you know we are dealing with a pandemic that we really don’t know much about...there are many conditionalities that we really don’t know much about at this time.

“We really have to take all things into consideration and come up with a plan,” he said.

He added that what should happen will be discussed with all stakeholders to see what is the best plan.
