Many idiots
THE EDITOR: Despite the intelligence of citizens here, it would appear we still have a lot of idiots among us. This is reflected in the number of people wanting the removal of the Christopher Columbus statue in Port of Spain.
Removing this statue will make absolutely no difference to racial discrimination against our black or other citizens.
If people are worried about lingering racial discrimination, then they ought to set up a campaign for a race relations act to deal legally with it.
Removing statues and icons associated with our history will, as I have already said, make no difference to the embedded and well-established racial discrimination that exists. It may even make matters worse.
