Autopsy on Carenage businessman inconclusive

The autopsy on Carenage businessman Koongebeharry Jaisarie, whose body was found covered in concrete in an eight-foot-deep grave in Lowlands, Tobago on Wednesday was inconclusive.

His brother, Takechade, told reporters at the Forensic Science Centre in St Clair on Friday that pathologist Dr Eslyn McDonald-Burris could not establish cause of death because of the body’s advanced state of decomposition.

Jaisarie, 62, owner of business and real estate in Trinidad and Tobago, disappeared while on a business trip in Tobago on June 11.

After the autopsy, Takechade said his brother’s three daughters are in the US and are asking National Security Minister Stuart Young for an exemption to return for his funeral.

He is the fourth person to be killed in Tobago in under a month.

Another one of Jaisarie’s brothers, Bobby, who spoke with Newsday on Wednesday, said it was evident Koongebeharry knew his killers.

“Technically, if you find somebody in an eight-foot grave covered in concrete – you understand where I coming from – whoever did the job is somebody he was familiar with.

“(He has no enemies) that we know of, but when you’re a businessman and have in your possession cash, you can have a lot of enemies. Let’s put it that way.”
