Police name 2 in Enterprise shootout

The two men shot and killed by police on Wednesday afternoon in Enterprise, Chaguanas have been identified.

They are 24-year-old Jeremiah David Dixon and 34-year-old Jamaal Romeo, both from George Street in Port of Spain.

They were killed in a shootout with police after an attempted drug deal and kidnapping went sour.

Police said the men and their accomplices met four other men at Price Plaza in Chaguanas and then went to Crown Trace, Enterprise to carry out the deal.

Police believe the deal went bad, which resulted in two of the four men being kidnapped while the other two escaped and reported the incident to a nearby police post.

One of the victims, who had chop wounds, escaped to the police post. After a brief search police found the other victim, also with chop wounds.
After a lockdown of the Lion’s Gate HDC housing development, the other men were found hiding in a house. Dixon and Romeo were shot in an exchange of gunfire and died at the Chaguanas Health Facility.

The injured men are in stable condition at hospital and all four are assisting with Central Division police investigations led by Sgt John.
